The Vacaville Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club, Will C Wood Interact Club, and the REACH/AWARE Coalition invite teens ages 13-18 to the first annual Youth Summit: Operation Representation on April 30, 2016 at the Ulatis Community Center. Registration begins at 8:30am and the summit kicks off at 9:00am. This event will focus on empowering youth through an educational forum on gender equality, equity, leadership and civic engagement.

Attendees will view documentaries that address media misrepresentation and harmful gender stereotype messages and participate in workshops and activities such as: Expect Respect: Teen Relationships, Healthy Body Image and Facts about Eating Disorders, Cross the Line, Taking Off the Mask, Words in Lyrics, and YOU: Personality Dimension. Featured presenters include Ashanti Branch, founder of the Ever Forward Club featured in the documentary “The Mask You Live In”, Sabrina Word, sexual assault prevention educator, Jordan Kurtz, eating disorder awareness advocate, and Anna Eaton, executive director of the Vacaville Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided and free tshirts will be given to the first 50 teens. The event will conclude with a raffle and students will receive Super Saturday credit for attending. Special thank you to the Vacaville Rotary Club for providing a scholarship to fund the event.
