CHARLOTTE DOUGHERTY
FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF SPIRITHORSE RIDING CENTER OF THE SF BAY AREA
Charlotte is a lifelong rider and horse lover. Her family has always had horses and she began taking formal riding lessons at the age of seven. She has competed in Western Pleasure, Gymkhana, and High School Rodeo. As a lifelong rider and learner, she enjoys all aspects and styles of riding.
Charlotte has been teaching riding for thirty years to people of all ages and riding abilities. She is a Certified Equine Health Care Instructor through SpiritHorse International and certified PATH Instructor through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship. She also holds a certification through EAGALA. Obtaining these intensive certifications has given her the experience, knowledge, and credentials to provide the most effective, safe, and beneficial riding experience for riders of all abilities and interests.Charlotte’s passion for horses, riding, and teaching has inspired her to enhance the lives of others through SpiritHorse.

SpiritHorse Riding Center of the San Francisco Bay Area is a 501(c)3 non-profit and was founded in January of 2012 by Charlotte Dougherty. This program is open to riders of all abilities. Our lessons are designed to improve the lives of children and adults who are facing developmental, emotional, social, and physical challenges. We are proud to be a licensed SpiritHorse International Center that strives to provide opportunities that help our community members build self confidence and feel empowered!
