Executive Director Jane Johnson is pleased to announce the opening of Child Haven Vallejo located at 236 Georgia Street in downtown Vallejo. The space will accommodate individual and group therapy for children and youth who have experienced trauma through child abuse, neglect, domestic or community violence, crime, bullying or traumatic loss. Child Haven has provided mental health services, as well as developmental assessments, to children throughout Solano County for 35 years. Until now services were primarily based in Fairfield at the 801 Empire Street facility or onsite at the Family Justice Center located just 2 blocks away in Fairfield. Therapists and family support specialists also serve a large number of clients in the children’s homes in Fairfield, Suisun, Vacaville, Vallejo, Dixon, Rio Vista and rural Solano communities. The agency currently serves nearly 600 children and adolescents each year.
As the need for clinical services for children continues to grow, so do the barriers to accessing those services; the greatest being the lack of transportation. By opening an office in downtown Vallejo, just a block from the new transportation center on Santa Clara Street, Child Haven becomes more easily accessible to families who need services in the South County. The new location has offices for individual therapy as well as a large group therapy space that can also be used for 0-5 age groups, and parenting education classes. Therapists and family support specialists will also work out of the new office to see Vallejo and Benicia clients in their homes. Child Haven Vallejo will also feature a PCIT Suite, to facilitate Parent Child Interaction Therapy. PCIT is a highly specialized, technology-driven program developed by UC Davis and works to strengthen the parent/child relationship in a controlled therapeutic setting.
The opening of the Vallejo office represents a significant expansion for Child Haven. To request services, please call Child Haven’s main office in Fairfield at 707 435-5744.
