Several local health clubs are hosting special registration dates for the annual SOFITCITY county-wide walk off competition, Saturday, September 26, 2015.
The event held at the Edwards Theatre in Fairfield, features music, entertainment, a one mile, 5K, 10K walk/run, a fitness expo, plus awards for city government, first responders, and finishers.
Each city has proclaimed Saturday, 09/26 SOFITCITY Day to encourage residents to walk for fun, for prizes, but most of all for their health. “We are challenging every resident to earn their finisher’s medal by walking a mile or more on SOFITCITY DAY,” says event director, O. Johnson. “In order to build healthier cities and reduce childhood obesity we need to make physical activity a priority.”
Additionally, the City of Fairfield is subsidizing race entry for every full-time city employee. Funds from SOFITCITY support the Children’s Network of Solano County which help to sustain Family Resource Centers in every city.
