The mission of The Academy of 21st Century Learning is to transform challenged students’ lives by uniting the academic standards of reading, writing, math, science, foreign language and study skills with creativity, leadership, art and music.
The Academy of 21st Century Learning uses a curriculum targeted to the sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics to help students become more competitive when seeking higher educational opportunities and for preparing for a future career.
“At the Academy we focus on the academic needs of each child because, as you know, each child is unique,” said The Academy of 21st Century Learning founder Barbara Dwyer. “We want our students . . . to fulfill their full potential.”
Located in the Nut Tree Center in Vacaville, the Academy serves students and families from locations throughout Solano and Yolo counties. Many of the Academy tutors and teachers are from the local communities and many have degrees from UC Davis. In addition to regular tutoring and teaching, the Academy’s staff provide summer programs, counseling, SAT/ACT prep and home schooling assistance.
With specialization in science, mathematics, reading, writing and study skills, the tutors and instructors of The Academy of 21st Century Learning are adept at the new Common Core Standards and employ innovative teaching strategies for students ranging from kindergarten to college prep.
