Crime. In 2004 it was an issue for Fairfield. It had made a neighborhood almost unlivable and adjacent mall districts dangerous. A potential solution was discovered that eventually became known as the Leaven. What has been learned is that, not only children in The Leaven program do better in school, but neighborhoods became safer too.
Discover what attracts people to The Leaven, how we accomplish our mission and what makes the program unique. More importantly, why does the Leaven work so well? Find out at The Little Wings Connections Luncheon on February 4th at noon when Mark Hagan, Corporate Relations and Area Director shares the story of The Leaven.
Mark Hagan is The Leaven’s Corporate Partnership Director.
Mark grew up in Solano County, and has recently returned after raising his family elsewhere in California and in Arizona. His background is public relations and real estate, as well as business development, but it was through volunteer work that Mark saw the impact he had in the lives of boys he mentored. The Leaven was a program that he quickly embraced when he moved back to Solano County. “I’ve never seen a cooperative effort like The Leaven; everyone from community leaders and businesses to educators and churches pull together to impact our kids. If what you do with your money matters and you want to invest in the community, this is a great organization. It is truly changing the face of the community!”
