Anna Eaton presents the Vacaville Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club

For 11 years, the Vacaville Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club (VNBGC) has been in the forefront of youth development, working with young people from disadvantaged economic, social and family circumstances. The VNBGC has actively sought to enrich the lives of girls and boys whom other youth agencies have had difficulty reaching. We are dedicated to ensuring that our community’s disadvantaged children and teens have greater access to quality programs and services that will enhance their lives and shape their futures.
Recently, we celebrated our 10th anniversary marking a milestone of serving over 2000 local youths in the Vacaville community and changes that have improved the Club experience as well as outreach to the broader community. The average daily attendance has increased by 42% in the past year alone and programs have been strengthened ensuring that our Club members enjoy a meaningful experience
The VNBGC is part of a nationwide Movement of community-based, autonomous organizations of Boys & Girls Clubs of America and is working to help youth of all backgrounds develop the qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders. It offers daily access to a broad range of programs in five core program areas (Character and Leadership Development; Education and Career Development; Health and Life Skills; The Arts; and Sports, Fitness and Recreation) and several specialized initiatives. All programs are designed to drive positive outcomes for youth and reinforce necessary life skills.
Today, more than 180 young people at risk and in need are taking advantage of the programs, activities and services provided by the Vacaville Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club. Our vision is to provide a world-class Club experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who walks through our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.
Anna Eaton, Executive Director, feels blessed to be a crucial part of such a critical mission. Her role is imperative in connecting the needs of the Club with community supporters. In her presentation, Anna draws a parallel between supporters/mentors and Club kids through the chaos theory; the idea that a very small difference in the initial state of a physical system can make a significant difference to the state at some later time. This is otherwise known as the Butterfly Effect; Translated in youth development terms, once we recognize the significance of our impact on an at-risk youth, we can then influence their outcome and potentially their future lineage.
