Last day to Bark for your ParkSolano residents, take note — today is the last day to vote for Vacaville in the Bark for your Park contest.
So, get voting! Remember, you can vote twice a day at vacavillebarks.com.
It’s been a long few months, but Vacaville made it to the contest finals, one of 15 cities across America to earn a top rank in the PetSafe-sponsored contest.
Vacaville’s competing against four other cities in the large community category. They include Watkinsville, Ga.; Moore, Okla.; La Grange, Ga.; and Oswego, Ill..
If Vacaville is one of the winners, it could mean between $25,000 to $100,000 for use toward construction of a dog park.
The city has already set aside 1.3 acres in Centennial Park. Plans call for two sections — one for big dogs, one for small ones. Wood chips would soften the dirt padding, making it safer and more comfortable for the dogs using the space. Estimated cost is $95,000.
The city has set aside $50,000 and will go forward regardless of the contest’s outcome, officials have said.
But, they agree, any extra dollars would be welcomed.
Vacaville, the community has said, loves its canines. So let’s put that sentiment to the test and get to voting.
Winners are set to be announced later this month.
