The Optimist Club of Solano County is encouraging area students to contemplate the phrase âLead by Example: Reality or Fictionâ as part of the Optimist International Essay Contest for 2015-2016. Due Date is Friday, February 5, 2016
The Optimist Club will judge the local studentsâ essays, based on the theme of âLead by Example: Reality or Fictionâ and determine the top winners. Winners will receive $100.00 and a club certificate and the winning essays will be sent to the district level where college scholarships of $2,500 are available for top winners.
âYoung students today have fresh ideas about the world and their future,â Club President Christina Baird said. âAs Optimists, it is our goal to encourage them and do what we can to bring out the best in each of them. This gives a wonderful opportunity to tap into their creativity and pursue possible scholarships at the same time.â
The Optimist Club of Solano County has been participating in the Optimist Essay Contest for 20 years and has been active in the community since 1996. Other programs and service projects that the Club is involved in include supporting the Opportunity House with the Festival of Trees, and hosting the Miniature Golf Tournament.
